In order to grow at its best and give you the juicy buds, you love cannabis requires some fundamental things.

Growing your own cannabis is a fun and inexpensive way to put high-quality buds in your jar. Marijuana is a hardy plant that can grow in a wide range of climates, in greenhouses or indoors all year round.

Step 1: Choosing Your Cannabis Seeds

With your personal taste in mind now consider your growing circumstances. Are you growing in a small cupboard where small fast-maturing plants like autoflowering strains or indicas will be the most effective use of your space? Or do you have a nice big backyard where you can grow one or more monsters directly in the soil or in large pots?

Outdoors you need to pick your time. Know your particular climate well. Have a sun cycle app or chart to make sure you get your timing right. Too early and you risk your plants going into flower immediately, then re-vegging when the daylight increases. This is unwanted. Your flowers will not form properly when blooming begins. Too late and you will have small plants with fewer flower sites.

JIFFIES, PLUGS AND ROCK WOOL STARTERS: Easy to maintain as you can have fifty seeds germinating in a very small space. Once the seedlings are established they can be put in their final position without damaging roots.

sativa weed seeds for sale

Breeding is done by choosing two strains and combining the male and female through cross-pollination to create a flower-producing female. This is mostly done in an indoor setting to prevent them from being contaminated by other plants. When the female matures, you get Sativa marijuana seeds.

After all, it removes the guesswork, increases yield, and is highly potent, unlike male plants. It is done by stressing the female plant during the flowering stage. Alternatively, you can spray your female plants with chemicals such as colloidal silver.

Breeding

Cannabis Sativa seeds rise to mature marijuana plants characterized by an uplifting high, tall plant structure with long leaves. They are a favorite among cannabis lovers looking for a daytime strain as they give consumers energetic body buzz that gets them moving.

Maui Wowie hails from the Island of Maui, meaning that it thrives in warm and wet climates. Growing these feminized Sativa seeds is easy as they are resistant to mold and mildew. The plants can get very high, up to 70 inches (175 cm), making them suitable for outdoor growth.

Bruce Banner Sativa seeds for sale can be found at the Dutch Seeds Shop all year round. So if you want to grow this potent strain, all you have to do is visit our seeds bank and buy Sativa seeds for your garden. Bruce Banner boasts a high THC content averaging between 18 – 24% and low levels of CBD. This strain is ideal for growers with moderate experience and excels in indoor and outdoor settings. They prefer mild climates and grow into very tall plants with a flowering period of 60 – 65 days. Bruce Banner yields will never disappoint you, as indoor crops will give you about 1.5 – 1.6 oz/ft² (450 – 500 g/m²) and 21 oz (600 gr) per plant for outdoor crops.

The major difference between indica and sativa is that Sativa plants take longer to grow and harvest. They generally have a longer flowering cycle as it takes more time for the buds to mature. They may even yield less bud than indica strains.. yet the rewards are well worth it!

Many people prefer the sativa high because of it’s uplifting glow and stimulating effects. Sativa’s deliver a more cerebral and thoughtful high, great for brainstorming ideas or to inspire creative expression. Sativa buds have the opposite effect of their Indica counterparts. You are far more likely to chill on the couch with a pure Indica vs Sativa’s much more energetic and social high.

CANNABIS SATIVA STRAINS

Sativa Seeds tend to grow taller, thinner plants that do well out doors in warmer climates with longer summers. The Sativa plant leaves are generally long and narrow with a lighter shade of green.

Our Sativa Cannabis Seeds come in CBD, feminized or regular seeds, as well as autoflowering or photoperiod. We recommend trying a few different types of marijuana seeds to find the best sativa strains and the right fit for you.

do i need to remove dead weeds before seeding

If you are faced with a neglected lawn that’s partially dead and is being taken over by weeds, you may be able to renovate it. Restoring a deteriorated lawn may be possible if the weeds and dead spots cover less than 40 percent of the lawn area. Renovation of a weedy lawn involves more than just mowing down the weeds and throwing some grass seed over the lawn.

The soil nutrients most important to healthy grass plants are nitrogen, potassium and phosphorous. Supply these nutrients by applying a commercial fertilizer formulated for starting lawns and lightly rake it into the soil before you reseed. Buy a grass-seed blend suited to your climate and local conditions and spread it over the lawn with a drop spreader or rotary spreader. Absent a different recommendation from the grass-seed grower, spread the seed at a rate of 2 pounds per 1,000 square feet on a lawn with substantial plots of live grass and 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet on bare soil. Water lightly once or twice a day to keep soil moist but not sopping wet. Don’t mow until the new grass gets 3.5 inches tall.

Kill the Weeds

Most deteriorated lawns have a built-up layer of dead and partially rotted grass stems, roots and rhizomes just below the green grass leaves. This is known as thatch, and it must be removed before reseeding so water and fertilizer can reach the new seed. For small lawns, you can remove thatch with a garden rake. For large areas, go over the lawn with a power dethatcher, also known as a vertical mower or power rake. These machines can be rented from garden centers. Remove the clumps of matter left by the machine with a garden rake and level the soil by raking it.

The best time for lawn renovation throughout the U.S. is mid-August to mid-September. Most weeds have not yet dropped their seeds and there will be little new weed growth. Also, reseeding at this time will give the new grass a chance to establish itself before going dormant for winter. Get rid of the weeds by manually pulling up large, spreading weeds. Follow up by applying a selective herbicide product that kills common broadleaf lawn weeds while not harming grass. For tough grassy weeds, like quack grass or crabgrass, use a nonselective herbicide such as glyphosate on the spots where these weeds have established themselves. Normally, all weeds will be dead within two weeks. Apply another herbicide dose in three weeks to get newly sprouted weeds.

If you have had a dry summer with below-normal rainfall, you need to replenish soil moisture before preparing a seedbed. Give the entire lawn a thorough watering, soaking until water has penetrated to a depth of at least 6 inches, then allow the surface to dry for a day or two before starting soil preparation.

does seeds in weed bad

There’s a seed in my bud!

What does it mean to find seeds in your marijuana buds? Is it something to be worried about?

Does it mean the weed is bad?

I’ve seen some growers get impressive results with bagseed, but overall results seem to be hit or miss. Plants can grow in odd ways and often either the yields or quality isn’t as expected. The problem is that seeds often don’t “breed true” to the buds that they came from. That is why many growers either stick to clones (which are exactly the same as the “mother” plant) or purchase seeds of a stabilized strain from a trustworthy breeder, where each of the plants will grow the way you expect, and buds more consistently have the smell, yield and potency they’re supposed to.

If it’s very seedy the buds may not feel as potent, though a few seeds here and there won’t make much difference in potency. The main problem with seedy weed is that you are getting less smokeable bud for the amount of total mass there. If it is seedless, you will get a lot more bang for your buck. Seedless bud (sinsemilla) is considered to be the highest quality and most potent type of weed.

Seeds are the result of pollination. That means the seedy cannabis buds (which come from a female plant) may have come into contact with pollen from a male plant. Therefore, it’s possible the grower didn’t identify and remove all the male plants before the released pollen. It’s also possible that the plant self-pollinated (sometimes called herming) which is often the result of plant stress during the budding phase but can also be caused by genetics.

The plants that you grow from the seeds you found in your weed might not yield a lot and the quality might not be what you expect. Most people who are growing on a regular basis will use a cutting that has been rooted – otherwise known as a clone. The other seed option is from a mother plant. Some other growers purchase their seeds from a stable strain, providing more consistent results. Still, it can be fun to grow an experiment! We also like eating cannabis seeds as they are a superfood – too bad they are SO expensive!

This doesn’t mean it is bad for your health but we advise against smoking seeds. Please remove them as you see them – you may find them crushed up in your grinder! The presence of seeds does mean that the total mass of smokable weed is compromised with decreased cannabinoid content and quite a few unwanted seeds. Think about it this way: If you purchase an ounce of cannabis and it comes filled with seeds, you are paying for the seeds which are less desirable than the cannabis flower that you were expecting.

If you’re feeling ambitious you can take the seeds out of your pot and try to grow from them. Here are a couple tips for determining whether or not to grow with the seeds you find:

Saving the Seeds

I found 10+ seeds in my weed – These seeds will give you a 50/50 chance of female/male plants. Usually these seeds occur from male plant fertilization. If you have the time and knowledge, grow them! Make sure you look out for those nanners as you get into flowering. Nanners are male pollen sacks that look like little bananas!

High-quality weed is important when you invest your hard earned money in what you smoke. There are a handful of things that can decrease your bud quality, one of which is finding seeds in your weed.

That said, visual cues might not be enough to evaluate your weed 100% but it can help you to conduct at best a preliminary inspection before you buy.

The other option is that the plant has self pollinated. This is rare but that still does happen. This self pollination usually happens when the plant is stressed while undergoing the budding phase but sometimes it can manifest because of genetics or light leak during necessary dark times. This is often referred to as a hermaphrodite plant.

non insecticide weed and seed

With the exception of weeding by hand, the truth is that most “green” organic weed killers currently available are not as effective as their chemical-based counterparts, but organic science driven by consumer demand could bring new, more effective alternatives. In exchange for a somewhat reduced effectiveness, organic solutions give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are not polluting the environment or creating health risks to your family and neighbors. For many people, this is all the motivation required.

One mechanical means of killing weeds is with a flame torch. A variety of long-handled tools are available that operate by means of a small propane tank that fuels a hot flame at the tip of the tool. By scorching lawn weeds with the flame, you effectively kill it, right down to the roots. You will need to be careful, however, since the flame will also kill any grass plants it touches. Some homeowners practice a similar technique using boiling water.

The most common homebrew using some combination of vinegar (1 gallon), salt (1 cup), and/or soap (1 tablespoon). There are numerous variations on the recipe but the resulting concoction is usually a pretty good non-selective weed killer. The acetic acid of the vinegar goes to work disrupting the cells of the plant while the salt desiccates the tissue and the soap aids in allowing the mixture to stick to the plant. Its effectiveness can be improved with stronger vinegar concentrations—most store-bought vinegar is 5 percent acetic acid, but concentrations of up to 20 percent can be found. Plants with hairs or waxy coatings may not be completely eradicated by the vinegar concoction.

Removal by Hand

One advantage of systematically removing weeds by hand is that it provides a means of aerating the lawn. An hour or so of weeding after every lawn-mowing session will pockmark your yard with small holes where the weeds have been removed, providing the same benefit as running an aerator machine over the lawn. Weeding by hand keeps you in close contact with the health of your lawn, and those who do it regularly often find that it is not much of a burden. It can also be a good way to keep kids engaged in lawn work.

Another popular home remedy is Ultra Dawn dish soap mixed with water used as a moss killer. Simply mix 4 ounces of Ultra Dawn dish soap with 1 gallon of water in a sprayer and apply to the moss; it will turn brown and die within a week or so. Moss can be tricky to eliminate, and the conditions causing its presence need to be altered, but with an old recipe like dish soap and water, moss can be dealt with safely and cheaply.

But growing numbers of people no longer want to apply chemical pesticides (which kill insects) or herbicides (which kill plant life) to their lawns and gardens, out of growing awareness of the negative, and sometimes devastating, effects on the environment and on the health of people and animals. In response, laws and regulations are evolving to reflect public pressure and the inherent dangers of these chemicals. Progress on regulation is somewhat more advanced when it comes to insect-killing pesticides. The proper study of the effects of plant-killing herbicides on the environment has been slower in the U.S., although other nations, especially Canada, have put forth restrictions on some of the herbicides used routinely in the U.S. So what is the most responsible way for an environmentally conscious homeowner to deal with lawn weeds?

For years, chemical weed killer has been a part of nearly everyone’s lawn care routine. Products commonly used have ranged from pre-emergent crabgrass control to weed-and-feed fertilizer-weedkiller combinations, to broadleaf weed killer containing 2, 4-D, to the ubiquitous and controversial glyphosate (RoundUp)—killer of all plants. These harsh chemicals have become such a way of life that you can sometimes find entire neighborhoods smelling like 2,4-D after the lawn service has passed through.

9. Vinegar and Salt

Glyphosate is the active herbicidal ingredient in Roundup. Many genetically modified food crops, such as corn and soybeans, have been scientifically designed to be resistant to glyphosate. Farmers can then spray Roundup on their fields and kill all the weeds, leaving only the food crop standing. This greatly simplifies weed control, but it also means the food crops are literally covered with Roundup. And so is any food you eat that’s made from these crops, like corn chips, bread and other packaged food.

You don’t have to resort to chemical herbicides in order to get rid of invasive weeds. Safer options exist that will work just as effectively. They may take a bit more persistence, but the benefits of organic control methods far outweigh the negative health effects of chemical pesticides.

We’re just starting to understand the serious long-term health and environmental effects of Roundup and other popular herbicides. The less we use these chemicals, the better. Try some of these effective organic weed-control methods instead.

4. Regulate Food and Water

2. Hand-Digging

The oil in soap naturally breaks down the surface of waxy or hairy weed leaves. Adding a few drops of liquid dish detergent to vinegar or vodka sprays will help it stay on the leaves and have the greatest impact.

images of weed seeds

Plants cannot move, so they have developed strategies for dispersing their offspring away from the parent plant. Weeds are particularly good at this, and are often among the first to occupy disturbed sites. Seeds, and other plant propagules, can be dispersed by wind, water, animals, and humans.

These cannabis seeds were germinated between two wet pieces of paper towel!

Bag seeds are a wildcard! You never know what you’ll end up with!

Sometimes It’s Random!

So depending on how the seed was originally made, bagseed often has a lot of variety. Even if the buds you got were an incredible quality, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the seeds will produce buds like that. If you’ve ever gotten involved with breeding or growing other types of specialized plants like roses, hops or even apples, you’ll know that seeds rarely breed “true” to the parents, and cannabis isn’t any different.

Check out the picture below. We sprouted all the plants at the same time. The tub on the right has seeds that were planted within a week of receiving them in the mail. The tub on the left has a very popular strain with award-winning genetics… but the seeds were more than 6 years old from when we first bought them. Even though they were all put into the tank at the same time and the new seeds grew like crazy, the seeds on the left got outpaced by algae – only one sprouted and though its roots keep growing and growing the actual never got any bigger than two round leaves even after a month!

When I first started growing I was told that good cannabis seeds needed to be very hard with dark tiger striping. If you could crush it between your fingers, it was a bad seed, or so I was told. This has not been my experience at all!

One of the best ways to ensure all your plants end up being female is to start with feminized cannabis seeds from a trustworthy breeder.

what is found inside the seed of weed

Marijuana seeds can be acquired from an array of sources and can vary in quality. For more info on how to buy marijuana seeds, check out our Guide to buying cannabis seeds.

If buying from a reputable breeder or seed bank, growing from seed is the best way to ensure your plants will have solid genetics and start clean, meaning they won’t come with diseases or pests.

Germination is the process in which a seed sprouts and begins to grow into a new plant. Also referred to as “popping,” germination is the very first step in starting your weed grow.

What are high-CBD cannabis seeds?

Autoflowers don’t need lots of nutrients because they’re small and don’t spend much time in the vegetative cycle. They won’t need as much veg nutrients—such as nitrogen—but will need more bloom nutrients.

Keep a close eye on the temperature and moisture level of the soil to keep the seed happy. It’s very delicate at this stage. Use a spray bottle to water it—over-watering can suffocate and kill the delicate sprout.

To get the buds found in medical and recreational stores, female cannabis plants are grown in an environment without males—or the males are removed from the area before they release pollen—so the females don’t create seeds. Females can then focus their energies on producing buds and not seeds—this high-potency marijuana is traditionally known as “sinsemilla,” meaning “seedless.”

Cannabis can be either male or female—also called “dioecious”—but only females produce the buds we all know and love. For reproduction, males have pollen sacs and pollinate females, causing female flowers to produce seeds.

What does it mean to find seeds in your marijuana buds? Is it something to be worried about?

If it’s very seedy the buds may not feel as potent, though a few seeds here and there won’t make much difference in potency. The main problem with seedy weed is that you are getting less smokeable bud for the amount of total mass there. If it is seedless, you will get a lot more bang for your buck. Seedless bud (sinsemilla) is considered to be the highest quality and most potent type of weed.

Does it mean the weed is bad?

There’s a seed in my bud!

I’ve seen some growers get impressive results with bagseed, but overall results seem to be hit or miss. Plants can grow in odd ways and often either the yields or quality isn’t as expected. It should be dark and relatively hard. Very pale or white seeds, that can be easily crushed between the fingers, usually won’t sprout. However, I have been surprised to find some very flimsy seeds sprout and produce amazing plants (we aren’t breeding them for hard seeds after all) so when in doubt, I highly recommend doing the true test to see if the seed is viable – try to germinate the seed and see if it sprouts!

can you buy female weed seeds

At the same time, there are some potential drawbacks to buying seeds from an online store. For one, some weed-legal locations still outlaw buying and shipping seeds across state or national borders. There are also issues of reliability. If you want to buy from an online seed bank , take some time researching the company. Make sure they are reputable and in good standing with their customers.

Many cannabis consumers like the idea of growing their own marijuana plant — whether the plants are used for recreational purposes or to produce medical marijuana . Very often, people find it incredibly rewarding to consume cannabis that they grew themselves, and many enjoy being able to nurture their plant all the way from the seed to the final harvest.

There is a seemingly endless variety of cannabis strains now in existence. Before buying marijuana seeds you need to know what kind of weed you want to grow. Start off by figuring out if you want to grow an indica-dominant , sativa-dominant , or hybrid strain. As a broad generalization, indica-dominant strains tend to produce effects more pronounced in the body, often contributing to pain relief, relaxation, and feelings of sedation or even sleepiness. Sativa-dominant strains are typically recognized as producing more cerebral highs that can be energizing and mentally stimulating. Hybrid strains produce a variety of effects depending on the specific mother strains used to create the hybrid.

How to buy marijuana seeds online

However you go about buying your cannabis seeds , you need to plan ahead. Here are some of the most important factors you need to think about to ensure that the marijuana seeds you buy will meet your needs and objectives.

Fortunately, marijuana seeds are now easier to find and purchase than ever before. That said, the way you go about buying marijuana seeds is still very dependent on the laws in your area. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to purchase marijuana seeds .

Finally, autoflowering seeds have more to do with the growth cycle of the marijuana plant. When growing regular seeds , you will need to adjust the type and amount of light your plant receives in order to trigger the flowering process. But autoflowering seeds have been genetically designed to produce a plant that automatically flowers without you needing to be fully on top of altering the light your plant receives.

Depending on how a seed has been bred, you can purchase regular cannabis seeds , feminized cannabis seeds , or autoflowering cannabis seeds . These are not strains of marijuana ; they are categories that refer to the sex and maturation process of the seeds .

The content on RoyalQueenSeeds.com is only suitable for adults and is reserved for those of legal age.

Feminized cannabis seeds are 99.9% guaranteed to produce buds, making them perfect for indoor and outdoor growers. All of our feminized seeds are photoperiod, meaning you’ll need to strike the right balance of light and darkness to make them flower.

What Does Feminized Cannabis Seeds Mean?

Use the filter located at the top left of the page to select your preferences, including height, yield, THC and CBD levels, and flowering times. Alternatively, use the “sort by” feature located at the top right to explore individual categories.

Pre-made cannabis fertilisers offer an easy solution with specific formulas for each stage of growth. RQS Easy Boost supplies all of the foundational nutrients needed throughout the growing cycle. Easy Grow adds additional vegetative nutrients, and Easy Bloom covers all of the necessary bases for optimal flowering.
