Seedo Farm’s turnkey automated growing containers could allow communities in high-risk areas to grow their food locally without the fear of crop loss due to environmental and climate factors.
This is why former US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer was named Seedo director, as she has extensive knowledge of the various needs of different parts of the continent.
On March 19, Seedo announced plans to build the world’s first fully automated, commercial-scale, pesticide-free, containerized cannabis farm as part of a new partnership with Kibbutz Dan, an agriculture-based community in Israel, which was recently approved the export of medical marijuana.
How it works
Founded in 2015, the Israeli AgriTech firm’s self-contained device generates “high yields of lab-grade, pesticide-free herbs, and vegetables,” states Seedo’s website.
Powered by AI and Machine Learning technology, Seedo enables anyone to grow anything with no experience and the same amount of space you would need for a mini-fridge.
The AgriTech firm also has a much larger version of its technology in the form of Seedo Farm.
In fact, the device’s impressive growing abilities have been translated from the knowledge of the company’s founder, retired expert cannabis grower Yaakov Hai.
The CEO addressed customer service complaints and said Seedo recently reorganized its customer service team "after discovering inadequate timely service."
Six months prior, Seedo began shipping devices to the first of its 3,000 pre-sale customers in the U.S., Canada and European Union, he said
The company said refunds were taking longer than expected because "the multiple delays … in production, supplies and customer care, are also affecting the financial dept," according to Reddit user rabbi-reefer.
Seedo’s CEO Responds
When Seedo did respond to customer complaints, the answers were not particularly satisfactory.
The filing said the company's wholly owned subsidiary Eroll Grow Tech Ltd., was in debt of roughly $20,609,827 and lacks the capital to continue operations.
The fate of the company and its customers remains to be seen.
Mistakes have been made along the way, and Seedo is doing its best to communicate and fix these issues, the CEO said.
**UPDATE: On December 10, 2019, Seedo filed for bankruptcy protection. Seedo is no longer selling their products or supporting existing customers.
