Check the seeds every day to ensure that the tissue does not dry out. Spray the tissues with water if necessary.
Place the plates somewhere warm (21ºC) and away from direct light.
Lastly, cover everything with the second plate, upside down, to form a ‘clam-shell’ shape – this will create the dark, moist environment necessary for germination.
Step 2. Germination – How to germinate cannabis seeds
Make a hole in the growing medium that is about twice as deep as the seed is long, so that each germinated cannabis seed sits 2-5mm below the surface.
Cannabis seedlings usually emerge from the growing medium 24 to 72 hours after the germinated seeds are planted.
When the first few millimetres of root have emerged from a germinated seed, each one should then be carefully transferred to a small container of growing medium (soil, coco-fibre or rockwool).
Place another few layers of moist tissue on top of the seeds, again allowing excess water to drain off.
It’s good to know that a cannabis seed doesn’t need light to germinate, only a humid environment. Light is only important for the cannabis seed when leaves arrive, because they absorb the light. Until then, it doesn’t matter if the light is dark.
After the carrot has emerged from the seed, it is ready to be put into the soil.
Cover the pot with a piece of transparent plastic, this way you actually make a small greenhouse with high humidity, young baby plants love it very much.
Cannabis seeds germinate on a moist surface
Every plant knows it has to grow upwards. So it is also possible to put the cannabis seeds directly into the soil. The chance that marijuana seeds will germinate in this way is slightly smaller than with the other ways.
The moisture in the cotton wool or toilet paper evaporates fairly quickly at room temperature. It is important that the seeds remain moist during the period that they have to germinate.
The moisture in the seeds activates the seed and starts germinating.
If necessary, you can cover the cannabis seeds with a piece of damp toilet paper and place a reversed saucer on top.
Ensure an ambient temperature of at least 20 degrees, otherwise the seeds will not germinate or will not germinate optimally. Fill the cup with water and put the cannabis seeds in it.
After 1 to 3 days the weed seeds should pop open and show the carrot.
If this is the case you can put these germinated seeds directly into the soil. Then put them about 1 to 7 millimeters into the soil with the root down. The stem that comes out of the cannabis seed after germination is not the plant, but the root! It is best to point this little stem downwards when planting the germinated seed. This way the plant will find its way down easier, this is not a must, but a tip.
