Should You Vape CBD Oil?
CBD oil vapes are a misnomer. CBD oil is used as an oral tincture and often contains MCT oil (derived from coconuts); which is questionable for inhalation.
Studies have shown that inhaling oil like that can pose serious health risks like lipoid pneumonia. Instead of vaping cbd oil that was intended for oral consumption, look into these options for vaping cbd:
– CBD made for vaping is sometimes referred to as “CBD vape oil”, but it doesn’t contain any actual oil. If it contains anything other than PG, VG, CBD extract, terpenes and cannabinoids, then it’s most likely unsuitable for inhalation. Check the label for the words vaping, vape juice, e-liquid or e-juice (but do check for the absence of oil.) – Similar to THC oil cartridges, these are slim disposable e-cig tanks filled with CBD e-juice.
- CBD distillate– made with a CO2 or a solvent-based CBD extraction method, these CBD concentrates are used with a 510 vape pen.
- High CBD strains – You can vape cannabis bud the same as you can THC flower. There are plenty of high quality cannabis strains that are rich in CBD and other cannabinoids. The better ones can provide anywhere from 150 to 250 mg of CBD per gram of flower.
- Nebulizers – While not technically a vape, CBD nebulizers work like regular nebulizers and offer an alternative inhalation experience for CBD.
How it feels to vape cbd
What most will feel, if anything, is relaxed. After awhile, that relaxed feeling can turn into sleepiness.
CBD is a naturally-occurring cannabinoid found in hemp and marijuana that is known for its therapeutic properties. Most notably, its ability to relieve symptoms associated with inflammation, anxiety, depression, pain and epilepsy.
CBD vape dosage
There is no “one-size-fits-all” dosage for CBD. Most just experiment because what’s optimal greatly depends on a range of factors, including the symptoms being treated, body weight and tolerance. In addition, everyone’s metabolism and endocannabinoid system is slightly different, which can yield unique results for each person.
A typical CBD vape cartridge containing 100 mg of CBD delivers about 1-2 mg CBD with each puff. If you’re using a CBD vape pen or tank, you’ll be taking in a bit more CBD per puff, depending on your device and the strength of your CBD vape juice.
The best way to find your dosage is to start low and then work your way up. Start with the minimal dosage, 1 to 2 mg of CBD and wait about six hours until your next dose. Gradually increase your dosage each time by 5 mg.
Pay close attention to how you feel after each dose. It might not be noticeable right away, or even overnight. As soon as you experience positive effects, lock in that dosage and stick with it.
The average CBD user takes an average of 10-30 mg per day. For serious conditions like pain and inflammation, some users take as much as 200-1000 mg per day. See our full guide for more specifics on how to determine your ideal CBD dosage.
Side effects of vaping CBD
Research into the side effects of CBD is still in its infancy. A comprehensive study was released last year that concluded there were in fact some side effects associated with CBD. The most commonly documented side effect of CBD is mild drowsiness. This is more common with first-time users and can subside with regular use.
This drowsiness is most often caused by high doses of CBD, whereas low to medium doses can actually produce the opposite effect. The other side effects observed were slight euphoria, hunger and red eyes. Compared to many prescription drugs, the side effects of CBD tend to be much less pronounced.
Here’s a study on the safety and side effects of CBD.

Does vaping CBD oil get you high?
No, vaping CBD will not get you high. Most CBD formulated for vaping is derived from industrial hemp. Although, it may contain trace amounts of THC (up to 0.3%). but that’s not enough to get you high. You may feel really relaxed, but not stoned.
There are many THC-free CBD e-liquids for people who are concerned about failing a drug test.
Furthermore, CBD can actually moderate the high that THC produces, by preventing your body from fully breaking the THC down. If you ever find yourself “too high,” take CBD oil for anxiety. It helps level you out and can also reduce the paranoia caused by THC. You can also be proactive and take CBD before engaging with something that gives you anxiety.

Is it legal to vape cbd?
CBD made from hemp is no longer criminalized by the federal government, and most states treat it the same way. Idaho, Nebraska, and North Dakota still have restrictions, because their laws lump hemp products together with all cannabis products. You may need to obtain a prescription from a doctor to use CBD in those states. If you happen to be in a state where marijuana is legal, you’ll have access to CBD products containing more than the 0.3% legal limit of THC.
In 2018, the US Senate introduced The Hemp Farming Act, effectively removing the DEA’s authority over hemp, turning it into a hot commodity, instead of a Schedule 1 narcotic. Cannabis and THC are still illegal or restricted to medical patients in 40 states.
Can you overdose on it?
The Americans for Safe Access stated at a 2016 medical cannabis conference, “To date, there has never been a single well documented case of human fatality attributable to an overdose of cannabis or its components, and no experimental or non-extrapolated LD50 can be attributed to a toxic or lethal overdose.”
Research shows that CBD is very low in toxicity. A study from 1981 determined the LD50 for CBD to be 212 mg per kg of body weight when given to monkeys intravenously. This suggests that humans must consume hundreds of times the average daily dose of CBD (30 mg) in a relatively short period of time to be at risk for overdosing. It is highly unlikely that anybody will ever take enough cannabidiol to induce lethal consequences.
Which CBD brands can you trust?
There have been some reports of CBD products being sold that don’t contain the advertised quantities of CBD. Even worse, some of them contained synthetic chemicals and contaminants that can cause users to feel high in a very uncomfortable way. Today we are fortunate to have many CBD brands to choose from that employ strict quality control.
If you’re not getting your CBD from a trusted source, there’s no way to truly know what you’re getting. Reputable brands tend to have overwhelmingly positive customer and professional reviews. These brands also test their products with credible third-party ISO labs and make the results public, or at the very least are willing to provide them upon request.
Why are lab tests so important?
Lab tests are conducted to verify cannabinoid content, THC levels, residual solvents and contaminants. Always make sure they’re up to date (preferably from within the last nine months) and are from a credible lab. You might feel intimidated when looking at some of the technical data in the report. Don’t worry, the THC and CBD levels are usually bold and easy to identify. You want to look for “Max Active THC” and “Max Active CBD” to determine the levels of THC and CBD. They are generally represented in “mg per mL,” “mg per bottle,” and as an overall percentage, which is useful for calculating dosages.
Is vaping the only way to use CBD?
Vaping CBD is not the only way to take it, but it happens to be one of the best. There are many other alternatives such as oral tinctures, creams, CBD patches, CBD drinks, CBD isolate powder, and CBD capsules and edibles. CBD crystal isolate powder is ideal for making edibles since it typically contains 99% pure CBD. The crystals dissolve into butter or oil, and can be used to create CBD-infused butter.
Lastly, most CBD vape juice is made with food-grade ingredients, so they are suitable to take orally. Just remember, it doesn’t work the other way around; you can’t vape a CBD oil tincture.

How to use CBD Vape Juice
When looking to purchase CBD oil for vaping, you should look at disposable CBD vape pens. While some options are basic, others can be more complex. They are small and light pens that are filled with CBD vape juice and rely on batteries to operate. Whatever styles and flavors you prefer, you can often enjoy hundreds and hundreds of puffs with each pen. Fortunately for shoppers everywhere, the nifty devices can be found at our quality CBD stores online.
What is CBD Vape Juice?
Whether it is called CBD vape oil, e-juice or e-liquid, the product is made for smoking CBD. People use handy devices, commonly referred to as CBD vape pens and e-cigarettes. CBD vape juice is normally created with hemp-based CBD oil and carrier oil to thin out the extract. There is also a little bit of natural terpenes to supply flavor, like something fruity to the CBD e juice. What flavors will you pick when it comes time to buy CBD vape oil?
Where to store Vape Juice
When you are not using your handy vape pen for oil, it is best to keep the utensil stored in a cool place. Leaving it on your dashboard during a hot summer day can alter the chemicals in the CBD ejuice. At the same time, always remember to tighten the cap on your vape CBD oil too. Not only can your CBD e liquid spill, but then you’ll be left without any essential vape oil whatsoever. Doh! You never want to run out of your important CBD juice. At least it couldn’t be easier to buy CBD online.
What is an atomizer?
When it comes to vaping, a tiny atomizer allows a person to smoke from a disposable vape pen. Sitting inside a cartridge, an atomizer usually screws onto a battery and has a coil, as well as cotton wicks. The battery then heats up the atomizer, allowing your CBD oil to be vaped. It is the important tool that heats up your CBD liquid enough to be smoked. Luckily, there is now a wide variety of atomizers for to choose from in our CBD store.
What is the right e-juice vaporizer?
While everyone has his or her own preference when it comes to an oil vape pen on the market, many consumers look for the same factors. For instance, is the device rechargeable and will it last for more than 6 hours at a time? When the time comes to buy CBD online, consumers also get to choose whatever colors or sizes their little hearts desire. To top it off, high quality CBD oil vape juice is extremely inexpensive. A CBD vape oil vaporizer should also be discreet enough to toss into your pocket or purse. That way, you can always reach for your handy vaporizer oil pen when you want to relax your mind and body with powerful CBD.

CBD vape juice
There are many health benefits associated with CBD, especially for CBD vape juice. Even if you don’t have any health issues, vaping CBD can still help. It’s non-psychoactive, so it will not get you high—but it can help to ease your mind and body from general stress and anxiety.
One critical matter that causes some confusion is the appropriate CBD products to vape. Technically speaking, CBD vape liquid is not an oil, though you might see “CBD vape oil” advertised. It isn’t actually oil-based and should not be confused with “CBD oils.” The key here is that unlike CBD oils that are tinctures, CBD vape juice liquids are designed for vaping and are miscible in water. CBD vape liquids can be used as a tincture, but CBD oil tinctures are not to be vaped.
We have tested an copious amounts of CBD vape juice products over the last few years to find the most dependable brands. We only test CBD products with appropriate lab results from third party testing. Listed below are the best CBD e-liquids from our extensive research and testing.
Disclaimer: CBD vape juice is designed specifically for vaping and is not the same as oil-based CBD oil tinctures which are NOT suitable for inhalation.

What is CBD vape oil?
CBD vape oil is a term that generally refers to any vape juice that contains CBD, as opposed to nicotine. It is really a misnomer considering that it doesn’t actually contain any oil. It would be more accurately referred to as CBD vape juice or CBD e-liquid. Some are CBD vape additives that mix in with your existing flavors, while others are pre-mixed flavors. CBD is naturally-occurring in cannabis and hemp plants and has been shown to provide relief for a wide range of symptoms.
CBD e-liquid is formulated specifically for vaping, but the ingredients (VG, PG, CBD and flavorings) also happen to be edible, so they can also be taken orally. Keep in mind, it doesn’t work the other way around! CBD oil tinctures and hemp seed oil, are for oral use only because they are both oil-based substances which are not suitable for inhalation.
Will CBD vape oil get me high?
No. Most CBD vape juice is formulated with CBD isolate which contains non-detectable levels of THC. In fact, they rarely contain any other cannabinoids aside from CBD itself. Some CBD vapes, typically full spectrum CBD oil cartridges are derived from raw hemp and contain trace amounts of THC.
In both cases, CBD vapes containing up to the legal limit (0.3%) of THC is still considered to be non-psychoactive, so they will not get you high. If you’re not worried about THC, full spectrum and broad spectrum vapes can provide additional benefits beyond cannabidiol itself. They shouldn’t be confused with THC oil vapes which generally do contain THC which can get you high, unlike
Benefits of CBD vape juice
The main benefit of CBD e-liquid is that vaping it has the highest bioavailability compared to all of the other consumption methods. Most people vape CBD for anxiety, while others vape CBD for pain relief. The list goes on, but CBD has been shown potential for helping a variety of symptoms associated with:
- Neurodegenerative conditions
- Multiple Sclerosis
Even if you’ve never tried vaping before, CBD vapes are an enjoyable and highly effective way to get a quick dose of cannabidiol. It’s perfectly legal, as long as it contains below 0.3% THC. In some states a medical prescription is still required.
How much CBD should I vape?
There are many personal factors that go into this including your age, weight, tolerance and most importantly your symptoms. Different conditions require different dosages. Taking it for seizures may require a higher dose of CBD than taking it for nausea, for example. Another important question to ask yourself is how often do you vape? If you vape infrequently, go with a higher strength to compensate. Use this chart as a starting point and adjust to your personal needs.
CBD e-liquid strengths:
- 50 – 200 (Low)
- 200 – 500 mg (Medium)
- 500 – 2000 mg (High)
- 2000 – 4000 mg (Very high)
Keep in mind these CBD strengths reflect the content of the entire bottle of CBD vape juice. Unlike regular e-juice, the concentration of CBD is determined per bottle (not per mL). A 30 mL bottle with a content of 500 mg is a good starting point, but for more demanding conditions 1000 mg + might be more appropriate.
Divide by the bottle size to figure out the mg of CBD per mL, then you can work out how much CBD you should be vaping. Be sure to check out the full guide on finding the right CBD dosage for you, whether you’re vaping it or otherwise.
Vaping CBD for beginners
Vaping CBD vape juice is essentially the same process as vaping non-CBD vape juice. First, make sure you are using a CBD e-liquid, not an oil-based tincture. It’s important to know the difference because they are often sold in are virtually indistinguishable bottles. If you are using a CBD vape additive, be sure to mix it into your e-juice well. Shake it up and allow time for them to blend together.
You will obviously need some type of device for vaping. If you already own a regular vape tank for e-liquid, you can also use it for CBD vape juice. Or you can purchase a separate device for CBD so you can continue using your regular nicotine-based e-liquids. Lower strength CBD e-liquids tend to be best for sub ohm devices, while higher strength ones are better suited for lower powered mouth to lung devices. This is just a general rule of thumb, but to each his own.
CBD vape pens are another way to have a dedicated device for CBD. They come in both disposable, or rechargeable styles that utilize replaceable tanks. Pod vapes have also been increasing in popularity for CBD because they use interchangeable pods, which makes it even easier to swap between CBD and nicotine.
Here are some tips for beginners on how to vape CBD properly:
- Fill up your device with CBD e-liquid and let it soak into the coil and wick for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
- Start slow, take a small puff and see how it affects you.
- Experiment with bigger puffs, keep in mind you don’t need to hold it in for longer than a second, just inhale and exhale naturally.
- You might notice a slightly earthy or bitter aftertaste. That’s normal with CBD vapes, especially with higher concentrations of cannabidiol.
CBD vaping effects
The most noticeable effects from vaping CBD oil are the calming and euphoric sensation you get from it. If you take the right dosage, it can elevate your mood and reduce anxiety. If you’re in pain, or just stressed out, you can get relief with CBD vape juice. You might not achieve it instantly, but after taking it on a regular basis you will start to notice the effects.
Some of the most commonly reported effects of vaping CBD are:
- Elevated mood
- Reduced stress
- Reduced anxiety
- Reduced pain
- Mild euphoria
- Improved sleep
There are some minor side effects generally associated with CBD, according to a German study conducted in 2017. The most common ones were dry mouth, and tiredness. You will need to vape a lot of CBD before you encounter these effects. If you feel them, take a break and drink some water or just take a short nap. Some people experienced diarrhea, but the study administered CBD orally using a carrier oil, which could have been responsible for causing it.
Just vape less frequently or use a less powerful device. You can cut your CBD vape with some your favorite premium e-liquids, or just purchase a lower strength of CBD e-liquid next time, or use a more appropriate device for your needs.
The most commonly reported side effects were:
- Dry mouth
